SEOUL, Feb 3 - South Korean refiners plan to shut down fewer crude units in 2009 compared to a year ago, a Reuters survey showed on Tuesday.

South Korea's four refiners -- SK Energy (096770.KS), GS Caltex, S-Oil Corp (010950.KS) and Hyundai Oilbank -- will shut down five crude distillation units (CDU), mostly in the first half of the year, the survey showed.

The total number of days of planned maintenance in 2009 stands at 110, compared to 130 days of shutdown at 6 units last year.

The table below shows details of the maintenance schedule for 2009 vs 2008.
