TOKYO, Dec 25 - Nippon Oil Corp (5001.T) plans to refine 3.95 million kilolitres (801,000 barrels per day) of crude oil in January to meet domestic demand, down 25 percent from a year earlier, a company executive said on Thursday.
The forecast is unchanged from its projection issued earlier this month. [ID:nT158098]
Its December crude refining volume for domestic demand was estimated at 4.14 million kl, down 24 percent from the year-earlier period and lower than its original plan to refine 4.44 million kl during the month, Masahito Nakamura, the company's senior vice president, told reporters.
Nippon Oil, which will merge with smaller refiner Nippon Mining Holdings Inc (5016.T) in October 2009, has crude refining capacity of 1.377 million barrels per day, giving it about 28 percent of Japan's total crude refining capacity.
