LyondellBasell Industries has awarded the license to use its Spheripol process technology for polypropylene production to SABIC affiliate Arabian Industrial Fibres company (Ibn Rushd) at its new Yanbu-based 525 ktpa PP plant in Saudi Arabia. This license underlines LyondellBasell's leadership and expertise in PP technology thereby enabling SABIC group to achieve its future endeavours in PP. The Spheripol process technology at Yanbu-based PP plant is the most appropriate match for Ibn Rushd, which already boasts of a wide product portfolio, and is slated to go live by 2012 being the single largest Spheripol line ever to be used.
Besides Spheripol, LyondellBasell also offers polyolefins technologies like Spherizone (new multi-zone reactor for the production of polypropylene and novel polyolefins), Spherilene (advanced swing-gas-phase process for the production of LLDPE, MDPE and HDPE), Hostalen (low-pressure slurry process for the production of bimodal HDPE), Lupotech T (high-pressure tubular reactor process for the production of LDPE and EVA copolymers), and Metocene PP (technology for the production of specialty polypropylene products using single-site catalyst systems).
