MEXICO CITY - Mexican oil reached record high of 122.26 U.S. dollars a barrel on Friday, almost one dollar higher than the day before, New York Stock Exchange reported Friday.

On Thursday, it was 121.31 dollars, five dollars higher than one week ago.

The Mexican oil price has jumped almost 150 percent higher than was estimated by the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, whose calculation was based on the price of 49 dollars at the end of 2007.

Analysts said that speculation, the U.S. general election and the weakness of dollar were among the factors that had driven up the price.
