HELSINKI-- Finnish Supreme Court fined Neste Oil Corporation 500,000 euros for environmental damage caused as a result of oil leak in 2001, Finnish news agency STT reported on Thursday.
About 300 cubic meters of oil was spilt from the Naantali refinery of Neste in December 2001 while the oil was being transferred.
The court found that the company had failed to fit oil transferring equipment with suitable alarms and did not detect the leak in time, said the agency.
