DuPont Engineering Polymers is responding to the weakening in the value of the pound with the introduction of a 5% increase in prices for UK customers invoiced in sterling.
The charge, covering engineering polymer materials such as Zytel nylon, Delrin acetal and Crastin and Rynite polyester, comes into effect on 1 April.
The company said that the return it is generating from sterling accounts represents a reduction in prices at a time of continuing rising costs.
According to northern European sales manager Myriam Vansteenkiste, the increase does not fully reflect sterling s slide against the Euro which, she pointed out, stands at 10% since last September.
In the past, she added, DuPont transactions often included currency limits but with the long period of stability in the Euro/Pound relationship, this feature had been dropped.
Vansteenkiste said: Our performance in the UK needs to be acceptable and is measured against other regions.
