US domestic buyer confirms styrene deal at 63 cents/lb FOB USG

One domestic buyer confirmed doing a styrene monomer deal at 63 cents/lb FOB USG for February. Volume was two barges, location was on the Mississippi River. A barge holds three million pounds or about 1.4kt.

Producer confirmation was unavailable by time of press.

This morning, one supplier in the Houston area Thursday morning was heard offering February material at 65 cents/lb FOB USG. No bids were reported.

While some said there was no difference between Mississippi River prices and Houston prices, others estimated that Houston material was usually at a half a cent to a penny premium, sometimes less.

One participant expected the next deal to get done at 64 cents/lb FOB USG.

No March bids/offers were reported by time of press.

In feedstocks, benzene Thursday morning was pegged at 381 cents/gal FOB USG for February, up five cents from Wednesday's assessment. March was heard at 381-384 cents/gal FOB USG.
