Tan Xuguang honored the Economic Person of the Year of China

Mr. Tan Xuguang, board chairman and CEO of Weichai Power Co., Ltd, was honored one of the ten 2005 Economic Persons of the Year of China.

His success owes to the great accomplish-ments of Weichai in recent years. In 1998, Tan Xuguang was appointed the leader of the company, which at that time was at the verge of bankruptcy. Mr. Tan, with his great courage and brilliant management talent, worked day and night with the fellow colleagues and finally led Weichai onto the path of rapid development.

In 2004, Weichi achieved four firsts: the first combustion engine manufacturer listing on Hong Kong stock market, the first enterprise in China combustion engine industry with an annual turnover over 10 billion Rmb, the first enterprise which possesses the proprietary intellectual property rights of large-power Euro diesel engine, the first enterprise fulfilling the annual produce and sale of 140,000 10L (and above) single brand name diesel engines.
