China's Biggest Zoology Museum Opens at CAS Park

China's biggest zoological museum with more than 5000 animal specimens on exhibition opens to the public on Sunday in the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Olympic Park.
The museum possesses more than 5.4 million animal specimens, making it Asia's largest animal museum. It was built with the resources from the specimen center of the Institute of Zoology, CAS.
The exhibition hall has one transient exhibition room, nine permanent exhibition rooms and one 4D dynamic movie room. Rare endangered mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fishes, insects, butterflies, shells and spiders are all exhibited in the central hall, along with a blue whale as long as 24 meters.
Most of the specimens in the museum used to be samples for science research, said a manager of the museum. "Knowledge and specimens of animals, ecological windows are demonstrated, introducing animal-related knowledge to visitors at different levels," he said.
