CAS High-Performance Distributed GPU (Graphic Processing Unit) Supercomputing System was officially launched at IPE (Institute of Process Engineering), Chinese Academy of Sciences on April 24, 2010, Beijing .
This computer system, with aggregated computing capacity of 6 petafalops, consisted of 10 sets of 100gflops computing system from Lenovo and Dawning. The development and deploy of the supercomputer were sponsored by special funds from both state government and CAS. The system will serve many key state programs and national natural sciences fund projects as well as big corporations, covering the industries including chemical engineering, metallurgy, oil and mining.
