Top execs at Ping An enjoy high salaries

China's Ping An Insurance Corp handed in a satisfactory annual report to its investors, while its pay sheet also satisfied the top executives.

The company's Deputy General Manager Liang Jiaju tops Ping An's payroll, with a pretax salary of 28.59 million yuan ($4.2 million), the company's annual report showed, Beijing Daily reported Tuesday.

General Manager Zhang Zixin ranks second right after Liang, with a pretax salary of 11.7 million yuan.

Ping An's net profit hit 3.88 billion yuan ($2.03 billion) in 2009, a surge of 879 percent year-on-year, according to its annual report to the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The company cited its increasing share of the domestic life insurance market and surging earnings from its investment as reasons for the profit increase.

Ma Mingzhe, board chairman of Ping An, reported a bonus-free pretax salary of 4.84 million yuan, a decrease of nearly 90 percent compared with his 46.16 million yuan pretax salary in 2006.
