BEIJING - Profit taking depressed Chinese shares on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.87 percent to end at 2,424.30 points.
The Shenzhen Stock Index sank 0.87 percent, or 84.99 points, to 9,718.73 points.
Total turnover decreased to 128.25 billion yuan ($18.86 billion), from 132.66 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Losers outnumbered gainers by 783 to 95 in Shanghai and 886 to 93 in Shenzhen.
