China's stocks drop to 15-mth low Monday

Chinese shares fell Monday, with the benckmark index down 0.8 percent to hit 15-month low, led by coal and non-ferrous metal producers.

The major gauge Shanghai Composite Index retreated 0.8 percent, or 18.95 points, to end at 2,363.95 points, the lowest since April 2009.

The Shenzhen Stock Index sank 0.62 percent, or 56.86 points, to 9,171.03 points.

Total turnover stood at 86.16 billion yuan ($12.72 billion), a drastic drop rom 117.8 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 606 to 254 in Shanghai and 608 to 349 in Shenzhen.
