MACAO - The average occupancy rate of Macao's hotel sector reached 78.6 percent in May 2010, with three-star hotels at 81.2 percent, according to the figures released Tuesday by Macao's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
At the end of May, the total number of available guest rooms in the local hotel sector increased by 11.4 percent year-on-year to 19,573 rooms, the DSEC figures indicated.
A total of 650,849 guests checked into hotels and guest-houses in May, a notable increase of 46.3 percent year-on-year, with the majority coming from the Chinese mainland (51.9 percent) and Hong Kong (19.4 percent).
The average length of stay of hotel guests decreased by 0.02 night to 1.5 nights, the figure showed.
