China Mobile Group on Monday appointed Wang Jianzhou, chief executive of its listed affiliate, to chair its newly-established board of directors and Li Yue succeeds Wang to become the group's general manager.
The group, the world's largest mobile operator, said it had set up a board of directors following government policy.
China Mobile Group said in its statement that "this move will further complete the leadership system and governance structure of State-owned enterprises, and make the company's management strategy more scientific and regulated."
China Mobile (Hong Kong) Ltd, the carrier's listed affiliate, said the listed company's management had not changed, but declined to comment on whether changes were planned.
