BEIJING - China's top legislature Saturday approved the Cabinet nomination of Miao Wei as the new minister of industry and information technology.
The National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee voted to approve the nomination at the end of a six-day bimonthly meeting.
Miao, 55, replaced Li Yizhong, 65.
Miao used to serve as Party chief of Wuhan city, capital of central Hubei province, and general manager of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, China's third largest state-run automobile company.
He was appointed vice-minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2008.
