Aluminum recycler Aleris announces Specification Alloys structure

Washington --1Oct2007 US aluminum recycler/fabricator Aleris officially announced its new
structure for its Specification Alloys business unit in the areas of sales,
supply chain and other functions in a news release Monday, confirming some
appointments heard earlier this month in the market.

As previously announced by Aleris, William Edwin Hoag (Ed) will lead the
Specification Alloy business as vice president and general manager. Hoag has
been leading Aleris's Specification Alloy business since June 1, 2005. He
joined IMCO Recycling in 1996 as general manager, recycling, UK, and prior to
the merger with Commonwealth, served as the vice president aluminum division.
Prior to joining IMCO, he held several positions with Alcoa in the United
States and internationally.

James M. Bopp has been named director, supply chain, a new function. "In
this new role, Bopp will be responsible for all metal management, plant
loading, scrap utilization and risk position management" for the Specification
Alloys business, Aleris said. Bopp joined IMCO Recycling in 1992 and has
served in several roles, with his most recent being director, specification
alloy sales.

Pick P. Chay has been named director, sales, and will be responsible for
all specification alloy sales, including toll sales, in the US, Canada and
Mexico. Prior to joining Aleris in June 2007, Chay was vice president, alloys,
for Teksid Aluminum. Before joining Teksid, he worked 11 years for Wabash
Alloys in a variety of commercial and operational roles.

Andrew L. Ishmael has been named director, manufacturing. In this role,
Ishmael will be responsible for the 12 Specification Alloy manufacturing
facilities in the US, Canada and Mexico. He will also be responsible for all
engineering, quality and productivity initiatives for the business. Ishmael
joined Aleris in September 2005; prior to joining Aleris, he was a quality
leader for GE Plastics where he had responsibility for internal quality
systems, including chemical and product operations.

Daniel L. Preest will be director, human resources, for the unit. Preest
will be relocating to the Beachwood, Ohio, headquarters location and will be
responsible for leading strategic human resources initiatives and labor
relations across the Specification Alloy business. Preest joined Wabash Alloys
in 2004 following several successful human resource leadership roles in a
variety of industries.
