Volume: Better
Price: Steady
Spot Polystyrene prices have stabilized after several weeks of consistent $.005/lb reductions. Spot prices have now come off $.03/lb, which is about the same amount that large buyers' contracts have been reduced from previous highs. Not all buyers may have experienced the same timing in contract movement, but by now most have reclaimed their pre-summer price increase levels.
Resin prices have softened a bit due to cost relief having been passed though to processors. The spot market is not awash in resin, but availability is better and most grades can be sourced with a little time. The overall balance between supply and demand remains tight and is expected to continue this way since the producer base has shrunk.
