Lanxess increases prices for rubber chemicals

Leverkusen - As of October 1, 2007, Lanxess said it will globally increase its prices for rubber chemicals. The Vulkanox 4020 antioxidants will rise in cost by EUR 190 or USD 250 per metric ton, and the Vulkacit accelerator grades by between EUR 150 and 360 or USD 200 and 500 per metric ton. The reasons for these measures by the Rubber Chemicals business unit are the continued high cost of the raw materials and the increase in energy prices. The affected rubber chemicals from Lanxess are primarily used in the tire industry as well as in the hose, profile, cable and drive train industries. The Rubber Chemicals business unit belongs to the Lanxess Performance Chemicals segment, which achieved total sales in fiscal 2006 of EUR 1,812 million.
