High performance cast PET film extrusion lines, a further strategic development of Br ckner Formtec, have secured a huge success on international markets. Three such Formtec lines are currently in assembly - two of which shall be delivered by the end of this year. Given Br ckner Formtec s marketing concept, Economy of Scale, these cast lines are perfectly suited for high effective PET film production. Further processing steps yield these films for various kinds of thermoformed articles, such as cups and trays, or PET/PE laminates for FFS packaging.
The thickness for 3-layer cast film ranges from 125 to 1.000 m. Some key figures include net film widths up to 1.900 mm and a maximum mechanical speed of 150 m/min. Extrusion output is currently up to 5.000 kg/h, an unchallenged value and guarantee for highest productivity.
Twin screw extrusion for PET processing without predrying has been optimized for high reclaim percentages. The process offers only a marginal drop of the intrinsic viscosity (IV) and thus enables usage of up to 100 % flake material for the core layer. These flakes can be derived either from edge trim, start-up waste, thermoforming trims or from reclaimed post consumer bottle scrap.
The chill rolls, with diameters up to 2.4 m, feature electrostatic pinning for film lay-on and a special declining pitch spiral design, which guarantees optimized uniform cooling. This technology was thoroughly developed by Br ckner Maschinenbau for BOPET lines and has been specially adapted by Br ckner Formtec for their product range.
The film profile is measured by a beta-ray gauge, which is linked with the patented Br ckner TCE - Thickness Control with Evolution Strategy. This allows automatic adjustments to the thickness profile, in order to achieve perfect film quality.
Further innovative features are inline coating or lamination for enhanced added value due to production steps elimination and multi-layer layout up to seven layers. The lines present most advanced technology and an outstanding safety concept. All Br ckner Formtec lines can be controlled via a special graphical and user-friendly interface ensuring full system integration.
