Mexican natural gas supplies in the Veracruz region have been disruptedby a series of explosions on the lines Monday, but state Pemex said itexpected refined petroleum product supplies to be unimpeded.

Earlier Monday, Pemex blamed "pre-mediated acts" for the damages toseveral pipeline facilities on lines originating in Veracruz, a major port andindustrial city (story 1351 GMT). The company had shut the gas lines.

In an updated posting, Pemex reiterated the attendant fires wereunder control, although they were expected to continue burning until fuelremaining in the lines was exhausted.

"Through extraordinary measures, it will be possible to maintain supplyof domestic LPG and gasoline in the affected zones. The major impact is innatural gas," Pemex said in a statement.

Once the fires are extinguished, Pemex personnel "will immediately workto reestablish the supply of natural gas," the company said.

The impacted facilities include a 48-inch gas pipeline betweenCactus and San Fernando; a 48-inch gas line from Zempoala to Santa Ana; a30-inch gas line from Minatitlan to Mexico City; a 24-inch LPG line fromCactus to Guadalajara; a 30-inch section, as well as a 24-inch section, of theLPG line running to La Balastrera; and a 30-inch oil line from Minatitlan toMexico City.
