Arlington, VA -- The American Chemistry Council (ACC)praised a new regional project focused on evaluating chemicals in commerce in North America. At the Security and Prosperity Project of North America Summit in Montebello, Quebec, President Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calder n signed a cooperative agreement to advance risk assessment and evaluation of chemicals under each country s regulatory framework. ACC believes this agreement will provide benefits across North America by supporting competitiveness and innovation while addressing concerns about chemical safety. This project will include a prioritization of chemicals for evaluation, complementing work by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under the High Production Volume Challenge program.
