French energy regulator seeks views on gas grid tariffs by Nov 9

French energy regulator CRE has launched a process of public consultation on the principles for setting tariffs for use of the French gas distribution network, CRE said in a statement Friday.

Responses are invited before November 9.

The current tariffs were proposed by CRE in October 2005 and came into operation January 1, 2006. They were intended, CRE said, to run for around two years, and especially up till the complete opening to competition of the French gas market July 1, 2007.

CRE said it hoped to be able to propose new tariffs for the use of the gas distribution network which could apply from July 1, 2008.

These should include changes to take account of: the unbundling of the gas grid and the restructuring of gas distribution activities following the opening of the gas market; the introduction of incentives based on productivity and quality of service; and changes introduced by the law of December 7, 2006 relating to new gas concessions.
