Houston, TX (bizjournals) -- KMG Chemicals Inc. is buying Air Products and Chemicals's high-purity process chemicals business. Houston-based KMG Chemicals said the unit is the largest United States supplier to semiconductor manufacturers. The $74.6 million acquisition includes a 215,000-square-foot production facility and warehouse in Pueblo, Colo. and a manufacturing facility and warehouse near Milan, Italy. Air Products and Chemicals Inc. is based in Allentown, Penn. "We are extremely enthusiastic about this acquisition, which essentially doubles the size of our company," said Neal Butler, president and chief executive officer of KMG. "This niche segment of the electronic chemicals market is a perfect fit for KMG's business model, and we believe this opens the door for additional quality acquisitions in the future that will meet KMG's criteria." The company expects the deal to close by the end of the year.
