Baton Rouge, LA -- Specialty chemicals maker Albemarle, a leading global manufacturer of bromine and bromine derivative chemicals, will increase the global price of its bulk elemental bromine by seven (7) percent, on a delivered basis, effective November 15, 2007, or as contracts allow. According to the company, bromine is used in the manufacture of pharmaceutical intermediates, flame retardants, water treatment chemicals, insect repellents, photographic chemicals, perfumes, dyes, oilfield completion fluids and other chemicals.
