MOSCOW, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Russia's gas giant Gazprom reached agreement with Ukraine on gas deliveries in 2008, local media reported on Thursday.
Ukraine will receive at least 49.8 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas originating in Central Asia at 179.5 U.S. dollars per thousand cubic meters between March and December this year. It will pay 315 dollars per thousand cubic meters for the 5.2 bcm of Central Asian gas supplied from January to February in 2008, Gazprom said in a statement.
Effective from April 1, 2008, a subsidiary or affiliate of Gazprom will deliver at least 7.5 bcm of gas per year directly to Ukrainian industrial consumers. This represents around 10 percent of the Ukrainian gas market.
Negotiations on gas supplies to Ukraine in 2009 and in the years that follow will continue, with account taken of emerging tendencies in procurement prices for Central Asian gas, the Gazprom statement said.
