PERTH, Jan 22 - Royal Dutch Shell Plc has no firm date yet for the restart of the 85,000 barrels per day Clyde refinery in Australia, which has been shut since the end of November, the firm said on Thursday.
"The refinery is still undergoing maintenance. There is no expected restart date at the moment," spokesman Paul Zennaro said.
The refinery has been meeting its commitments through imported fuels as well as by taking stocks from Shell's 125,000 bpd Geelong plant in Melbourne, Zennaro said.
Shell said in October that the shutdown was expected to last a least one month, and was aimed at rectifying problems that led to unplanned outages at the 82-year-old refinery throughout last year.
The maintenance would be followed by further work on the hydrodesulphurisation unit to comply with new Australian government requirements for cleaner diesel fuel. Industry analysts say this work could take about three to four months given the age of the Clyde refinery.
