NEW YORK, May 6 - Two natural gas pipeline ruptures on separate systems in Florida and Indiana this week were not impacting shippers, according to a spokesman for both pipeline companies on Wednesday.
A portion of the 5,000-mile (8,050-km) Florida Gas Transmission interstate natural gas system in Martin County, Florida, ruptured earlier this week.
John Barnett, a spokesman said for FGT, which is a subsidiary of Citrus Corp, which is owned by Southern Union Co's (SUG.N) Panhandle Energy and El Paso Corp (EP.N), said there were no injuries due to the incident.
Both the Florida Turnpike and Interstate I-95 were shutdown during rush hour Monday, according to local media.
The Florida Gas Transmission system runs from southern Texas to southern Florida, with a mainline capacity of 2.3 billion cubic feet per day.
Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co also said it experienced a break on its natural gas pipeline system late Tuesday on line 200, downstream of the Montezuma compressor station in Indiana.
In a website posting, the company said the cause of the rupture was unknown, but based on current nominations there was no expected impact to shippers.
Panhandle Eastern operates a 6,500-mile pipeline system delivering up to 2.8 bcf of gas per day to Midwest and East Coast markets.
The company is also a unit of Southern Union Co.
