MEXICO CITY, June 9 - Mexico's state oil company Pemex said Tuesday it was seeking bids to build a production platform at an small offshore field discovered last year.

Pemex [PEMX.UL] said it expected the Kambesah field to produce approximately 13,700 barrels of oil and 9.3 million cubic feet of gas per day when it reached peak production.

The company did not provide an estimate of the cost of development. The winner of the tender will be expected to start work on July 21 and to complete construction of the platform in early 2010.

Kambesah is located near several light oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico. The field was discovered in August 2008.

Mexican oil production has fallen sharply since peaking in 2004 amid a dearth of discoveries large enough to offset the decline of the giant Cantarell oil field.
