ISTANBUL, Aug. 25 - Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz said Tuesday that Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) might bid for operation in Iraqi oil and natural gas fields.

"TPAO can offer bids in all the 10 tenders and I hope we will underline the cooperation between Turkey and Iraq by winning a tender there," said Taner Yildiz while he met with Iraqi Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahristani.

The Iraqi oil minister said Iraq has the world's third largest oil reserves, and aims to increase its oil production by up to four times with the development of 10 new fields to be auctioned later this year.

Iraq could provide natural gas to the Nabucco natural gas pipeline if Iraq produces more gas than it currently needed, added the Iraqi official.

On Tuesday, Iraq showcased oil fields on offer for development to international companies in a meeting held in Istanbul.
