MOSCOW, Aug. 24 - Three firefighters died in a fire at an oil tank in Siberia late Saturday, Russian news agencies reported on Monday.

The fire was triggered by an explosion of a 20,000-cubic-meter oil tank which was hit by a bolt of lightning in the Khanty-Mansi autonomous area.

The fire spread to neighboring tanks and an area of more than 2,000 square meters was set ablaze.

It was reported earlier that one firefighter died when extinguishing the fire, five others were injured and two missing.

"After the fire was put out, remains of the body of the third missing fire-fighter were discovered. Representatives of the prosecutor's office are working at the scene," the Interfax news agency reported, citing the Ural regional center of Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry.

There is no threat of new explosions nor threats to life and health of the nearby population, said the regional center.
