Chevron says Richmond refinery back to normal

NEW YORK, Aug 27 - Chevron Corp (CVX.N) said on Thursday operations were back to normal at its 245,271 barrel-per-day San Francisco Bay-area refinery in Richmond, California, following repairs to a unit.

"Chevron's Richmond Refinery is back up and operating," Brent Tippen, a spokesman for the oil major, said in an email.

Chevron said last Friday it was making repairs to a shut unit at the refinery without identifying it, but trade sources said it was a hydrocracking unit, which makes gasoline and diesel.

The unit shutdown had triggered spikes late last week in gasoline and diesel prices in the San Francisco Bay wholesale refined products market.
