Statoil restarts N.Sea oilfields after leak

Write: Tyler [2011-05-20]
OSLO, Sept 26 - Norway's StatoilHydro (STL.OL) restarted oil production on Saturday at its North Sea Statfjord C platform after a leak of oily water on Friday sharply cut production at Statfjord and shut satellite fields.

"We started production this morning," spokesman Geir Gjervan said, repeating that there was "no big production impact" from the shutdown. Details about the size of the leak were not immediately available.

Satellite fields Statfjord East, Statfjord North and Sygna are tied into the Statfjord C platform, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD).

The three satellite fields together produce some 34,000 barrels of oil per day, according to NPD data. The entire Statfjord field produces some 47,000 barrels per day, as well as smaller amounts of natural gas and natural gas liquids.
