Chrysler will recall over 30,000 2007 Dodge Calibers and 90 Jeep Compasses around the world, the Detroit News reported Friday.
The recall includes about 25,300 Calibers sold in the United States and some 5,600 in Canada -- all equipped with an automatic transmission. No accidents or injuries have been reported.
Under certain conditions, some bushings can dislodge, and the accelerator pedal may not immediately return to the idle position, the Detroit News reported.
The potential issue was mechanical in nature, according to the automaker's statement, and was not related to Chrysler's design of the pedal nor electronics.
Chrysler will inspect and replace affected pedals with a new unit at no cost to the customer, according to the automaker.
