Apple Inc. on Tuesday announced that songs from the legendary rock band Beatles have finally landed on its popular iTunes online music store.
Starting Tuesday, the band's 13 remastered studio albums, the two-volume "Past Masters" compilation and the classic "Red" and " Blue" collections are available for purchase and download on iTunes worldwide, Apple said.
Each individual songs will sell at 1.29 U.S. dollars, with single albums available for purchase at 12.99 dollars each and double albums costing 19.99 dollars.
Fans can also pay 149 dollars to buy a special digital "Beatles Box Set" which contains the 13 albums and other content such as film of the band's first U.S. concert in 1964.
The Beatles-iTunes agreement marked new development of the relationship between Apple Inc. and Apple Corps Ltd., which was founded in 1968 by the Beatles to look after the band's own affairs.
The two companies, which share similar corporate name, had engaged in decades-long trademark dispute and reached a settlement in 2007, paving the ways for Beatles' music to be sold on iTunes.
"We're really excited to bring the Beatles' music to iTunes," Paul McCartney, a former Beatles member, said in a statement.
"It's fantastic to see the songs we originally released on vinyl receive as much love in the digital world as they did the first time around," he added.
