Myspace Further Integrates with Facebook

Write: Dudley [2011-05-20]

Myspace on Thursday announced a new collaboration with Facebook, a move further linking the two former rivals and seen by some analysts as Myspace 's official recognition of Facebook as the dominant social networking platform.

Myspace said that it is offering a new feature dubbed "Mashup with Facebook," which allows users to log in to Myspace site using their Facebook accounts and then port their Facebook likes and interests over to Myspace.

The integration will enable users easily create highly personalized, entertainment-focused streams based on their Facebook profiles, Myspace said.

"This new feature is a great illustration of our strategy around social entertainment and enabling the real-time stream. The stream is one of our most popular features on Myspace, and it is now delivering an even richer entertainment experience of relevant content for our users to enjoy," Mike Jones, chief executive officer of Myspace, said in a statement.

The new offering followed the "Sync with Facebook" feature introduced earlier by Myspace, which enables users to connect Myspace status update with their Facebook profile or page.

According to Myspace, "Sync with Facebook" had reached over one million of its users in just one month.
