In previous years, China faced year-end coal shortages, but not this year. The China National Coal Association says thermal coal supplies at the country's major power plants are sufficient to last for around 15 days. That's considered a normal level of supply.
As long as there's no extreme weather disasters this winter, large-scale electricity shortage is not expected. The association attributed the current short supply of thermal coal in places like Jiangxi and Hubei to previously insufficient supplies. It says the shortage can be resolved through better coordination.
