East-to-west power transmission deal inked

Write: Abundiantus [2011-05-20]
China's southwestern Yunnan and Guizhou provinces have agreed to transmit nearly 500 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the southern Guangdong Province over the next five years.
With a west-to-east power transmission program initiated back in 2000, China has been working to provide enough power to the relatively more developed eastern and southern regions. Guangdong, an economic powerhouse for the Chinese economy, has been the largest beneficiary of the program, which provides about one-fourth of its annual consumption.
