Chilean plastics producer Sigdopack halved its losses in the third quarter of the year to $4.2 million, compared with $8.7 million in the same period of last year, parent company Sigdo Koppers said in its latest quarterly results released late Monday.
The company, which produces plastic films for foodpacking including bi-oriented polypropelene (BOPP) and bi-oriented polyamide (BOPA) at plants in Chile and Argentina, said sales jumped 18.7% to $90.9 million, thanks to higher sales prices.
BOPP sales in the third quarter totaled 8,517 mt with sales from the Chile plant rising 4.1% while those in Agentina dropped 4.3% due to restrictions on exporting to neighboring Brazil.
BOPA sales rose 7.3% year-on-year.
