On Jan. 3, Beijing's first batch of 100 new buses that meet the state V emission standards were officially put into operation in three suburban lines. This is China's first batch of operating buses with state V emission standards.
Experts said that the state V engine is 43 percent lower than state IV engine in terms of nitrogen oxide emissions and environmental pollution.
In September 2010, the Beijing Public Transport Holdings, Ltd. (BPT) completed public purchase bidding on the first batch of 727 buses with state V emission standards. The first delivery of 100 buses will be put into operation in three suburban lines this time, and the other 627 buses in production are expected to go into use in the near future.
According to reports, the BPT will update all buses to new eco-friendly vehicles in the future. Besides upgrading to diesel vehicles with state V emission standards, they will also update to hybrid electric buses, electric buses and so on.
