China was estimated to import about 1.60-mil mt of fuel oil in November, a shipping schedule shows. This volume was down about 6% or 100,000mt from October imports published by the General Administration of Customs, but up 27% on year.
No VLCC cargo of Venezuelan fuel oil reached China in November, the shipping schedule indicates. One VLCC cargo of Venezuelan fuel oil for the Chinese market was loaded on Oct 16, but it was not expected to get to China until early December, after partial unloading in Singapore. Only about 90,000mt of Venezuelan fuel oil was transshipped from Hong Kong to North China in November. The monthly supply volume of Venezuelan fuel oil was the lowest in the year.
Meanwhile, as much as about 400,000mt of M100 fuel oil, including eight cargoes from the Far East, arrived in China in November, the schedule says. Thanks to firm demand, the CFR premium for M100 fuel oil rose to around US$48/mt for delivery to China in the month.
Fuel oil imports from Southeast Asia were estimated to climb about 23% in November.
