China

Chinese shares close slightly higher Monday from a nearly 15-month low the previous trading day.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index was up 0.97 percent, or 28.98 points, to close at 3,014.41

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.64 percent, or 81.55 points, to end at 12,808.09..

Japan

Japanese stocks rebounded Monday, buoyed by a weaker yen and Japan's stronger-than-expected gross domestic product (GDP) data.

The benchmark Nikkei-225 index added 102.70 points, or 1.06 percent, higher from Friday to 9,827.51.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange edged up 4.58 points, or 0.54 percent, to 851. 56. Australia

The Australian share market closed flat on Monday as weakness among materials stocks outweighed strength in the banking sector.

The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index was down 4.7 points, or 0.1 percent, to 4,688 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index backtracked 5.5 points, or 0.12 percent, to 4,773.3 points.
