Chinese equities closed higher on Friday as the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.52 percent, or 14.60 points, to close at 2,838.80 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.2 percent, or 25.72 points, to close at 12,573.94 points.
Hong Kong stocks went down 97.35 points, or 0.41 percent to close at 23,688.95 on Friday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 23,880.77 and 23,654.04.
Turnover totaled 79.45 billion HK dollars (about 10.22 billion U.S. dollars). (1 U.S. dollar = 7.775 HK dollar)
Japan
Japanese stocks edged higher Friday, buoyed by strength in Chinese shares, although caution kept gains in check before closely watched U.S. jobs data.
The benchmark Nikkei-225 index rose 11.28 points, or 0.11 percent, from Thursday to 10,541.04, a fresh eight-month closing high.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange gained 1.91 points, or 0.21 percent, to 926. 42.
Australia
The benchmark S&P/ASX200 index fell 20.0 points, or 0.42 per cent, to 4705.0 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index dropped 19.1 points, or 0.40 per cent, to 4812.0 points.
On the ASX 24, the March share price index futures contract closed down 19 points at 4693 points, with 19,387 contracts traded.
Around three stocks were lower on the S&P/ASX50 for every two that rose.
