240 million USD was concluded at the 108th Canton Fair

113 enterprises of our city attended the 108th Canton Fair, which run from October 15 to November 4. The transaction of these exhibitors participating totaled 240 million dollars, up 2.2% compared with the 107th fair and 11.9% over the same period of last year. However, it s still down 5% as against the springtime Canton Fair of 2008, the days before the financial crisis.
The foreign purchasers totaled 190.93 thousand in this session fair, down 2.32% compared with the last session, according to the principal of Weihai Municipal Commerce Bureau. However the purchasers from European Union and USA were on the rise; and the purchasers from S. Africa, Brazil,Turkey and Russia increased by a large margin as well.
Considering some risks such as fluctuating exchange rate and delivery time extended, most of participating enterprises were relatively cautious to receive orders , said the principal of Commerce Bureau, so short-term orders and small orders dominated this fair, accounting for 80% of the total received orders. Simultaneously, the export order prices have been up 3%-10% on average, but it still falls short of cost rise such as RMB increase in value, raw and processed materials, labour force and transport cost.
14 enterprises showed their products in name-brand display zone, accounting for 12.4% of the total participating exhibitors, but the value of contracts concluded made up 21% of the total transaction.
