Yesterday, Qingyuan witnessed China Qingyuan International Bamboo Charcoal Industrial Development Summit 2009. With the theme of "strengthening technical cooperation and exchange, and promoting the development of bamboo charcoal industry", it aimed to reinforce the collaboration and exchange of bamboo charcoal industry, broaden bamboo charcoal market, impel the overall development of bamboo charcoal industry, and to enlarge the influence of Qingyuan bamboo charcoal industry through international academic researches.
During the forum, Zhang Qisheng, member of China Engineering Academy, delivered a keynote speech on New Utilization Technology and Approach of Biomass Material. Technical exchange reports were further made respectively by specialists, scholars and representatives of business circle such as Fu Jinhe, a senior project manager of International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, and Zhang Min, a researcher of Tokyo University Research Institute for Sustainable Humanoshere
At the opening ceremony, Qingyuan County government awarded "government counselor" appointment letters and signed investment agreements as well.
Abundant bamboo resources covering 400 thousand mu within Qingyuan make it a significant base of commercial bamboo forest in Southern Zhejiang and to the north of Fujian. In 2008 the output value of bamboo industry amounted to 972 million yuan. Bamboo charcoal industry developed at a much higher speed and fostered a considerably competitive enterprise cluster which consists of Jiejiegao Charcoal, Fulaisen Charcoal and An'nan Charcoal. Their charcoal product series occupied a large market share of bamboo industry.
