Much precipitation from successive storms and the heavy monsoon rains not long ago has brought the previous low-flow Qiantang River system into a high-flow period, and is predicted to bring a tremendous impact on navigation, Hangzhou Marine Affairs Bureau recently warned.
According to the weather forecast from meteorological institutions, four typhoons will hit Zhejiang since August, two of which will affect Qiantang River greatly. In case of a combination of a typhoon with a spring tide, disastrous storm surges will be triggered, posing a huge threat to navigation.
