Longquan has recently been awarded the title China Black Fungus Village by China Edible Fungi Association.
Longquan has a history of over 1,800 years in the cultivation of back fungus and is one of the districts at home and abroad that first began the artificial cultivation of back fungus. Longquan boasts subtropical monsoon climate which features four distinct seasons and abundant precipitation, thick forest, good ecological environment with the ambient air quality reaching the Grade-II national standard and the surface water quality the Grade-I and -II national standard, and thus is known as the best Chinese city in ecology suitable for the development of black fungus.
At present, Longquan black fungus has been sold to European, American, and Southeast Asian countries and is popular with their consumers.
