Recently, good news from Washington came that West Lake was granted 2010 Honorary Award of Analysis and Design by American Society of Landscape Architecture (ALSA).
The ALSA deems that from the year 2001 on, the designers of Hangzhou urban landscape have successfully designed and implemented a comprehensive protection project for West Lake, which has significantly improved ecoenvironment, stimulated the local tourism, provided high-quality urban open spaces, and thereby promoted the sustainable development of the city.
