Minister of SACH: West Lake, Silk Road Listed in Key Projects of Application for World Heritage

Shan Jixiang, member of the national committee of CPPCC, Minister of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage(SACH), remarked that several projects such as Hangzhou West Lake Cultural Landscape, Site of the Yuan Dynasty Upper Capital and Silk Road has become key projects of application for world heritage.

Application for world heritage has fixed three properties.

Shan Jixiang introduced that there are altogether 40 sites of world heritage in China, among which 28 are world cultural properties, 4 are mixed properties of world cultural and natural heritage and 8 world natural properties. In the next few years, the work priority of application for world heritage will focus on three sites, including Hangzhou West Lake Cultural Landscape, Site of the Yuan Dynasty Upper Capital and Silk Road.

The protection and application work for the Grand Canal will also start in an all-round way. Now, the agenda for the application for world heritage is set: to carry out application work for Hangzhou West Lake Cultural Landscape, to make application preparation for Site of the Yuan Dynasty Upper Capital, to promote the application of Silk Road and to timely hold related international conferences on the application of Silk Road.
