Professor Shan Zhihua, a chief leather expert in Sichuan University was awarded the Scientific Progress Prize for the achievement on research of high-end pig lining leather during a science and technical conference held in Xiangxiang city recently. This is the highest city s award to the person or company making remarkable contribution in science and technology. Hunan Huaiqi Leather Group and other 31 companies won an encouragement prize for their progress on cleaner production research.
Xiangxiang as an old industrial base is now facing the many issues on industrial updating and restructure and emerging industry development. The city attaches very importance to scientific research on tradition industry updating and investment on new emerging industry, as a result there are120 scientific items to apply for national and provincial projects, of which many of them are employed in production in the city of Xiangxiang.
